We thank everyone that donated to the shelter in MS.  Everything was much appreciated and needed.  Most people have been helping those in LA and forget about the smaller shelters in other areas.  We arrived around 10pm Sunday night to drop off the supplies so some of the pictures did not turn out or were very dark. As we were unloading the motorhome they were amazed as we pulled more and more items out.  This would not have been possible it if had not been for those that cared enough to donate these much needed items.

Thank you !

We finally got back from our trip at 4 am Wednesday   morning. We started out early Saturday morning (October 8th) and all went well getting down there except it took a lot longer then expected. Because it was an older motor home and loaded down with donated supplies the fastest we could go was about 50-55 miles per hour. We didn't get down to the Gulf Port makeshift shelter until 10pm Sunday, the day before we got there they shipped 50 dogs out to other shelters and rescues so there was only about 10+dogs there and ?40 cats. It was in a very bad area of town with a couple crack houses right next door. The WalMart there and many other businesses still had no power and were running on generators. As you drove down the main street there were people in tents on the side of the road and mobile homes everywhere. They had a large room they were storing all the donated supplies and people from the neighborhood would stop there for food and supplies for their animals, so at least we know the supplies went to the people of Gulf Port. We camped in WalMart parking lot that night and got an early start on Monday and took pictures in Gulf Port, headed to Biloxi which was blocked off with large signs that said you had to be a resident or Relief worker to enter the town...well, we went in anyway.  We could not stop at the side of the rode to take pictures because of all the debris so had to take pictures out of the windows as we were moving, hope they came out. We could not get into the really bad areas because the roads were closed and we could not get through. Then, we headed to Ocean Springs for more pictures and then got on the road. In the newspaper, we saw an article about Shrimp Boats in Bayou La Batre in Alabama that were on the banks and turned over so we went there and took more pictures (we weren't supposed to be in there either but went anyway). Then got on the road home. We made good time on Monday and stayed in a Motel because it was Zach's (Robin's son) 10th Birthday and had a good night sleep. We headed home early Tuesday and all went well until we got right over the Kentucky-Ohio Border and our motor home broke down on the side of I 71.(Very long story) We finally got it off the highway and left it in a parking lot, took a taxi to the Cincy International Airport, rented a car and drove home. The motor home had to be towed to Canton. It is hard to describe what we saw.  It was a long trip, Robin, Zach and Jenn were wonderful and I hope I didn't bug them too much, I'm a talker, so I might have driven them nuts? But am VERY glad I went and will remember our trip for years to come.
