April is ready for her new family. She was from an auction April 21st and two days after we got her she had 8 healthy babies. April went through a tough time right after the birth of her babies. She developed an infection and had to have an emergency spay done. She did wonderful and nursed her babies until they were 5 wks old.

April is a little shy but very sweet. April wants and deserves a home of her own to be spoiled in after all that she has been through. She is working on housetraining and is crate trained. April uses the wee wee pads when she can not get outside. She has a tiny stub of a tail and just wiggles and wags it when she is excited

April is still waiting for the special family out there. She is still somewhat shy with new people and new noise scare her. She would do best in a home without small children.

April is still in foster care thinking there is no one out there for her. She is a special girl who would give so much love if just given a chance. She is still somewhat shy around new people. She is working hard on her house manners. She goes out potty with the other dogs and been keeping her crate clean at night. She is hoping to be settled in a permanent home of her own soon. She sees Thanksgiving with her new family all snuggled up on the couch.

April is a 4 yr old female Schnauzer who was rescued at the Saturday April 21 2007 Dog Auction. She was pregnant and huge. Come early Monday morning April 23, 4am she started having the puppies, 8 puppies all together, all went well and Momma and puppies seemed happy and healthy. 
Well, Tuesday morning April 24, her foster Mom came downstairs and found April laying in a pool of blood, when checked further she also had a fever. She was taken right up to the Vets office and was treated with Pitocin-fluids and antibiotics, the bleeding had stopped and her fever had come down and she was eating.  
Come Wednesday April 25, her fever came back and she was not eating or drinking, she was again taken up to the Vets for treatment. Came home ate a little and still didn't look good. Then she really went downhill after that, she ended up in the hospital on IV fluids, IV antibiotics, and then the worst thing that could happen, happened, her milk was drying up. So the staff at the Vets office started bottle feeding all 8 babies. April ended up having an emergency spay due to infection and was at the hospital until Monday April 30th. Her milk has come back and she is feeding and taking care of all her puppies, she is now in another foster home being given a lot of much needed TLC.  
Now what would of happened to poor April and her babies if she was not rescued? If she was left at the Mill her and her puppies would of died.  Her Vet bills total $674.82 in addition to the $450 we paid at the auction for her. Total cost $1124.82.  We want to thank Lindsey for taking care of the feeding and mothering of all the puppies over this past weekend, Lindsey is a great friend and works at Animal and Avian Medical Center. And thank to Dr. Wilson and all the staff for taking such good care of April and her babies. Also her foster parents Sandra and Joseph for their time and countless trips back and forth to the vet.
