8/10 Have done much research on Coated Xolo's and am 99% sure he is a coated Xolo, he came in with a hairless Xolo female which is supposed to be his sister. Poppy's current foster home adopted his sister and they do play together. Poppy is good buds with Chuy and they also paly alot together. Poppy has turned out to be a very nice boy, is an active boy so he does need a family with older kids or a couple that will be willing to take him for walks and give him playtime. He is used to a fenced in yard and did get out my front door, so no young children coming in and out. He has been very healthy since his food was chnged with no more loose stools. He must have only grain free dogfood. Please read Poppy's entire bio before applying.
4/10 Please read Poppy's entire bio. Poppy is still waiting for that special home.
3/10 Poppy is a VERY active boy, needs a home with someone who is active. Taking walks, hikes, playing ball outside etc...He does still wear a bellyband so he doesn't mark in the house, but I bet once he was adopted and in a new home for a few weeks his marking would stop. Otherwise he is housetrained, he keeps his crate clean. He had some stomach and bowel issues and his food was switched to Nature's Recipe Easy to digest Fish meal and Potato recipe and has done well on that. No stomach or bowel issues since he was switched over and he is gaining weight again. He would do best in a home with a younger people, another small dog, he likes males, to hang around with and play with. He likes toys, wrestling with his male dog buddies here. Must have a fenced in yard.
12/09 Poppy is a active boy who likes to run and play. He loves to play and wrestle with his buddy Chuy and his gal pal Pinkie. he is used to a fenced in yard athis foster home but does walk on a harness/leash. I was told you need to be careful that he does not escape through a door, that he will take off. So we are careful when opening doors when he is around. He likes to aly on the couch next to you and as the weather is getting colder he is more and more looking for warmth. He has longer legs and will run and play in the house, he also likes to play tug of war with his pals. He is kinda of a picky eater, sometimes he will finish his bowl of food other times no, so he is on the thin side. He has a glossy black coat. No young children.
10/09 Poppy is a active boy who we are trying to train not to jump when we come home and jump to try to take food. He would not be good with young children, 10yrs and up would be good if the child had dog experience. A fenced in yard a must. He is also likes to lay on the couch with you while your watching TV or taking a nap. His new best bud is Chuy and they play for hours.
9/09 Poppy is new to the rescue, he came from a Humane Society in KY, they felt because he was so shy he needed to go to a rescue that had foster homes. Poppy is a sweet, very shy, wimpy boy. He is thought to be a coated Xolo, not a Chihuahua mix, but we don't know enough about the coated Xolo breed to say for sure.
He is scared of everything but is adjusting to his foster home nicely. He did come into rescue with a female, it was said they were a bonded pair, I don't see that here. He likes to be with his people, and likes to lay on your lap and be wherever you are. He seems to be housetrained, not a real good eater, and is getting used to the other dogs. He LOVES women and is pretty good with older children, is cautious with men. But now he has been here a few days he is laying on my husbands lap, greets him at the door.
Because he is so timid and it was said he would take off if given the chance, a fenced in yard is preferred. He is UTD on all vaccines, fecal check neg, on HW prevention, neutered and microchipped. Adoption $275
