Sweet old Gertie has been in her current foster home for over a year, but she still hasn't given up hope that her perfect forever home is out there somewhere! She is spending sunny summer days exploring the backyard and is often the last one to come back inside.......probably because it's so peaceful out there after her noisey foster brothers go inside the house! She would love a bit more quiet and a lot more personal attention in her new home.

Gertie is so glad that Spring is here! She likes to curl up on her bed in a big patch of sunshine and dream of a forever home where she will be loved and spoiled (and given lots of yummy treats!).
Dec. 09 Gertie is still waiting for a cozy lap to curl up on this winter. This sweet older girl would love a quiet home where she can be loved and pampered.

Gertie really enjoyed exploring the great outdoors this summer but, now that the weather is turning cooler, she has her heart set on a nice, cozy lap for cuddling! This sweet, older girl deserves a loving forever home of her own where she will be cherished and pampered She would do well as an "only" dog but doesn't seem to mind cats at all. An adult home would be best for Gertie and she would love a mom/dad who is home a lot. Won't you please consider sharing your home - and you lap - with Gertie?
7/09 Gertie has a upper resp. infection and is being treated. This is from her foster Mom. Gertie is such a good girl! She apprears housebroken and asks to go outside. Although she doesn't hear well, she comes when she is called. All I have to do is catch her eye and clap my hands, and she comes right back to be picked up. She is very proud of herself because she is now able to climb the three steps from the back porch into the house!
6/09 Gertie loves to go outside on a leash to explore the yard. She appears housebroken, but also uses peepads in the house. When it's naptime, Gertie wants to cuddle in a nice, cozy lap. She's very friendly and would love a quiet adult home where she could get lots of love and attention.
Gertie is another one of our seniors. She was found walking down the road with Granny and turned into a shelter. Gertie is also hard of hearing. She hasn't met a stranger she does not like. Oh what a sweetheart this girl is. She wants nothing more than to cuddle with anyone. She'll get a little growly at times when she is disturbed while she is sleeping but we think it is just because she gets startled. Gertie has what the vet calls laterial devation of the eye. Her one eye looks outward a bit. She has a little head tilt which could be because her sight is off. He feels that this could be because of a head trama in the past. It does't stop Gertie though. She's up and down the steps to the couch as fast as she can. Oh and when it involves food - she's the first one in line.
Gertie would be the perfect companion for someone that is home alot and just wants someone to cuddle.
The picture is after she came home from her dental and spay so she wasn't too interested in standing up for the camera.
